At salvation, our precious Redeemer also becomes our Lord!

Acts 2:36 declares, “Therefore let all of the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made the

same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

When you and I receive Jesus Christ as Savior, He not only becomes our Sin-Bearer and Sin-Deliverer, He also is our Lord—our Owner. Rejoice in the fact that Christ now has the title of Master as you give Him full permission to own you forever.

When I asked the Lord Jesus to come into my heart in that classroom, February 1972, I knew my life was no longer mine to do with as I pleased. It was His. He now had full claim, and I gave Him complete control of my body, soul, and spirit.

It is glorious to surrender absolutely, for only total yielding to Christ brings un into all truth. This is also what releases the power of the Holy Spirit, with all His glory!

Scripture explains, “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32).

Obedience—which ushers in the Spirit—-takes place at the moment you confess, “I give You my life, Lord. It is no longer my own. I surrender it to Your Lordship unconditionally. I’m no longer the boss.”

CBNNews.com – Whether they’re delivering New Testaments or transporting missionaries, airplanes have been crucial to the work of spreading the gospel.

It all started when Orville and Wilbur Wright, the sons of a Christian minister, first took flight in 1904. That day in Kitty Hawk, N.C., has changed the world like few others.

Powered flight has shrunk the globe, and even the universe — just a little bit. But it’s hidden accomplishment is the way it’s been used to expand the kingdom of God.

“It made mission work possible, where it was impossible before,” said Butch Barman

The airplane has opened up new mission fields by allowing contact with groups that had been cut off from the outside world. It spares missionaries the hardships of weeks of overland travel over harsh terrain, and it gives them crucial support by delivering equipment and medicines, and providing emergency transportation.

Making Missions Easier

That support has allowed missions workers to arrive on the field healthy and ready to tackle their long-term task.

“We know that the work of the church and of missions would be slowed down by years and maybe even decades in some parts of the world if it wasn’t for the use of the airplane,” said Dennis Fulton.

Cameron Townsend, founder of Wycliffe Bible Translators, was a pioneer of mission aviation.

Uncle Cam, as he is known in Wycliffe, saw firsthand the essential need for this tool in 1946, when two of his workers, Titus and Florence Nickel, had to walk from their base in the foothills of the Andes Mountains to the nearest city.

When they reached their destination three weeks later, they were a pitiful sight.

“When Uncle Cam saw them, their clothes were tattered and torn and dirty and their bodies were almost emaciated,” Barman recalled. “He said, ‘this shall never happen again. We’ve got to have airplanes for our people so that we don’t waste their lives.’”

JAARS Delivers the Word

Townsend formed Jungle Aviation and Radio Services, today known simply as JAARS, to transport and serve his Bible translators.

Based in Waxhaw, N.C., it is one of the largest mission aviation services in the world.

Wycliffe USA President Bob Creson says the airplanes have one of the most honored roles in the organization– delivering Bibles to people who never had them before.

“The thrill that you get really is when those airplanes land and they’re loaded with New Testaments for a new testament dedication and people gather around these aircrafts and certainly these aircrafts have played a role in transporting those New Testaments,” he said. “But it’s the joy that people are feeling at having God’s word arrive in their own language — it’s really a blessing to see that.”

At about the same time Townsend’s idea was taking wing, a group of Christian military airmen were having similar ideas.

In the waning days of World War II, what is now known as Mission Aviation Fellowship was formed.

More than Flying a Plane

It’s early pilots were pioneers of the aviation field– people like Betty Greene, MAF’s first pilot. She became the first woman to fly over the Andes Mountains.

And then there’s Nate Saint. He’s best known for his work and martyrdom among the Auca Indians in Ecuador. But Saint was also a master at adapting aviation technology to suit mission work.

“He designed a way to carry corrugated roofing under the belly of the airplane,” Fulton explained. “He designed a fuel system, an emergency fuel system, so that if the primary fuel system, something would happen to it, you could get fuel into the system and keep the airplane in the air.”

And he devised a method for contacting people on the ground where there were no airstrips.

“He designed a system that he would fly in a tight circle, and as he would be flying in the circle he would let a rope with a bucket on the end of that rope and as he would continue to let the rope out, that rope would go to the middle and he could actually set the bucket on the ground,” Fulton continued. “Sometimes he had a telephone in there that the missionary on the bottom could pick up the telephone and talk to Nate in the airplane.”

Reaching Those in Need

Saint’s spirit of exploration and discovery is alive in today’s missionary pilots who still skim the treetops looking for unreached groups who need to hear the gospel.

“We’re looking for any sign of life, whether it be a little village hut or some gardens,” one pilot said. “Sometimes the people live in little caves or under a tree you can’t see from here. But you may see a sign of gardening in the area.”

And like Saint, they’re not only pilots, but preachers as well.

“In some cases the pilot becomes the messenger as well. going in and preaching in churches. taking the jesus film, one of the tools that modern technology allows us to land and hang a sheet from the wing of an airplane and set up a little generator and project the jesus film on this sheet. people come around and gather adn they’re able to see as well as to hear the story of jesus, sometimes for the very first time.”

And it’s that evangelistic spirit, more than anything else – love of adventure or the thrill of flight – that motivates the men and women of mission aviation.

“Most of us are here because somewhere down inside us there’s a propeller turning, but it’s the resourcefulness of the people that have the desire to share the gospel,” Fulton said. “The airplane, it’s a tool. But it’s really the call of God on a person’s life in order to share the story of jesus. that’s where it’s at.”

I’ve heard the battle of perspective described like a parade. We are only standing at one designated spot on the parade route. We may be able to see to the end of the block but cannot see around the corners, the twists and turns along the 2 mile route in the middle of city buildings. Fortunately, God has plotted the route, sees it from beginning to end, accounts for closed streets, sharp turns, and weather conditions. He is not surprised. A hard concept to wrap my mind around. So what do we do with our short-sightedness?

Exodus 4 picks up after God has revealed his plan to Moses of saving the Israelites from Egyptian captivity. And He will do it using Moses.

Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, “The LORD has not appeared to you.” The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff.” Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. But the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail”–so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand– ”that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

It seems to me that Moses is feeling empty-handed, sure he has nothing to offer. But it is the first question the Lord asks that hits home with me. “What is that in your hand?” He does not mock Moses in his fear and doubt. He is not incredulous, not thinking “Oh my, I hadn’t thought of that before, you’re right! They probably won’t believe you, whatever shall we do?!” Instead he asks Moses a simple, obvious question. Had I been Moses, I might have been a bit confused. Well, it’s a staff of course, what does that have to do with the crisis at hand??

But the point is that the Lord was reminding Moses that it is the I AM, the Lord God Almighty that is working in and through him. All He asks for is what we have! What is in your hand Don? And I think, what, this old thing? This everyday piece of normal life? YES. That. He wants to use it for His glory. Here comes the perspective again. Our God sees things differently. The humble, the lowly, the “normal” can be extraordinarily miraculous in the hands of our God.

So be encouraged today. He is not surprised by our circumstances. He is asking to use what we already have. He can see the whole parade. Let’s use what He has given us to give back to Him today!

LONDON, KOMPAS.com — Nama besar Dimitar Berbatov tak menjamin perasaannya bisa santai saat menunaikan tugas sebagai striker Manchester United. Berbatov mengaku masih merasa gugup saat bertanding.

Baru bergabung musim ini, pemain Bulgaria itu selalu mendapat tempat utama di lini depan “Setan Merah”. Pemain yang dibeli dengan harga 32 juta poundsterling dari Tottenham Hotspur itu mendapat tugas besar menjadi tandem bagi Wayne Rooney. Berbatov bahkan menyingkirkan striker andalan MU sebelumnya, Carlos Tevez.

Meski sudah mencetak 14 gol dalam 43 laga bersama MU, Berbatov tetap saja masih merasa dag-dig-dug. Perasaannya membuncah sebelum masuk ke lapangan.

“Aku sebenarnya agak gugup pada masa awal dan aku masih merasakannya,” katanya seperti dikutip The Telegraph. “Namun, ketika Anda bermain untuk tim terbesar di dunia, Anda kadang kala gemetar sebelum masuk lapangan.”

“Kadang aku merasa gugup dan aku memperlihatkannya lewat tanganku atau berteriak di lapangan, tapi kadang tidak seperti itu,” tambahnya.

Berbatov sendiri masih geregetan dengan penampilannya saat ini. Ia bahkan sering frustrasi karena merasa masih ada yang kurang dan perlu diperbaiki.

“Aku tahu apa yang telah kulakukan dan aku tahu apa yang bisa aku perbuat lebih baik lagi. Kadang aku frustrasi dengan diriku sendiri karena, di beberapa laga, aku tidak tampil 100 persen,” lanjutnya.

Sebagian pendukung “Setan Merah” menganggap Berbatov terlalu lamban untuk kategori striker. Tidak seperti Tevez atau Rooney yang kerap berlari ke sana ke mari mencari bola, Berbatov lebih sering menunggu datangnya bola.

“Aku tahu orang-orang kadang bilang bahwa tidak peduli dengan apa yang terjadi, tapi percayalah, aku merasa hal itu sangat sulit dan jika aku tak bermain baik, aku pulang dan hanya memikirkan supaya lebih baik lagi pekan depan,” ujarnya.

Berbatov kini sedang berusaha menyiapkan dirinya sebaik mungkin untuk duel puncak Liga Champions lawan Barcelona, 27 Mei mendatang. Ini merupakan final Liga Champions pertama baginya dan bukan tidak mungkin ia kembali merasa gugup.
